Granny’s Cloak

The colour and texture and markings of this Granny’s Cloak moth rival the prettiest butterflies.
Giant Stick Insect ( a little worse for wear)

Clearly, it had been a hard day for this Goliath. See the whites of his eyes showing? A trip through my laundry would intimidate even a sturdier creature than this crunchy chap. Though what he was doing there, I can’t imagine.
Behold a Face Fair

It’s the Irish Chicklette. She was building sandcastles on the beach, but the endeavour was hampered considerably by Miss Baby, who would go poking her fingers into them as fast as they were built.
Turkey Babies

I’m smitten!
Scrub Turkey

They are a common sight at national parks and botanical gardens.
Swallowtail Exits the Scene

There’s no negotiating with butterflies. They simply will not turn and smile for the camera by request, so the odd rear view is unavoidable.
Early Morning Galah

I’d have liked to spend longer watching this galah. It was on the other side of a busy road and early morning traffic was pouring past.
Water Lily

It was late afternoon, with the light fading.
When my extended family get together for an outdoor gathering, we play games after the meal. Not the typical frisbee or cricket: we play boggle. (Yes, the word game.) We are furiously, hilariously, competitive about it so it was tough choice to sit out a couple of rounds to shoot the glorious water lilies.
The Farmer’s Magic

What makes an honest farming man such a hit with the girls?

Why, he holds a fresh, velvety gosling, of course! Irresistable!
