About
I have no pretensions to being a photographer, but enjoy recording what takes my fancy. This is a spot to post some of my favourite photos, and maybe chat with people about them.
If you would like a more wordy introduction, wander over to ~beyond bluestockings~, where I more than make up for my reticence on this blog.
Thanks for stopping to view some of my favourite things. Please leave a comment if there is something that you especially liked.
i like photography too
but i haven’t got my own camera (yet)
anyway, i took some pictures of a location i found very beautiful, sometime last year
the place is called : rayasandra
quite uninhabited

Here?
http://wikimapia.org/2788788/Rayasandra
I kind of imagined India (and I don’t know why – a throwback to a geography book in primary school maybe?) to be a lot greener, but I suppose it depends on the season?
My favourites were; the spider web above the water with the light reflecting; the grasses in the foreground and mist in the back; and the one where you have trees on either side of a track leading into a mist. (I imagine the one with the track would be great to look at when you need to mentally escape)
I thought the fish photo was interesting too, though I don’t understand what is happening in it.

gawd, that aerial view
i suppose that’s the place
ya
but you’ve got the main village i suppose – or atleast a pic of what used to be the village – its quite developed now
the location where i shot the pics is somewhere further on
it’s quite uninhabited
there is a bible college there, where i did my diploma
next to it there is a dried up lake, which fills up during the rainy season and further on a eucalyptus forest
all the pics are around that area
i haven’t shot the forest cause the mist was all in the open area
the fish were taken at another lake, nearby
watching them dying there, inches from the water
where some fishermen had just caught them fresh from the lake
they were selling them to passer-by’s and the village folk
it was kinda sad

I am not often confronted with the realities of things dying so I can eat them. After a trip to a country farm a while back, I came home wondering why I should feel closer to God in the country? If He is omniscient, what difference does it make where I am?
After puzzling it out for a while, I put it down to being surrounded by his creation (as opposed to the city where I live, which is full of bricks and mortar) but more strikingly, that I was (most uncomfortably) reminded that every time I eat meat, something dies for me. It’s a reminder of my frailty and need, and of another sacrifice.
(yes, I know I said here was for light and fluffy, and BB was for these other issues, but seeing those fish dying would have made me sad too, and kind of quiet.)
See, I have the same trouble categorizing my writings
….but it’s all me

Although I feel guilty? humbled? thankful? that an animal dies so I can eat meat, I DO eat meat. I accept that a life was taken, and it suffered, and I did nothing to deserve the sacrifice.

Hi,
My name is Miranda, I am designing an information book about Indian Mynas and why they need to be erradicated from australia and how to do this. We are stressing the point that the Native Noisy Miner is a beautiful and essential part of our environment and is not assosiated with the Indian Myna. We would love to use your image of the Noisy Miner on the swap blood.
Would this be ok?
Kind regards
Miranda

Miranda, I am in Australia, and I would love to have a copy of the book when it’s finished!
What a lovely thought! Thank you
Although your email address won’t appear on the site, it is visible to me, so I will send you my address, along with the original photo, which will be better quality than copying it from the site.
Thanks again for your thoughtful offer.

Hi Joi,
I’d say I have almost single-site-edly used up most of my fair share of famiiy download checking out your photos, they are truly wonderful. I’m glad to see others asking to use your photos as they are really very good! What type of camera are you using? Anyway, that’s all, just wanted to say “wow!”

Hello Missy!
I’m so glad you have enjoyed exploring here
Most of the photos were taken with a little pocket point and shoot. About six months ago I upgraded to a Canon 1000D – not quite what serious photographers use, but it gives me a lot more options, particularly when taking photos of wildlife.
Thanks for stopping to leave a comment! It was such a lovely surprise to see you here =)
