Shells of the Rainforest

Taken in Dorrigo National park, this is one of the many varieties of fungi that decorate the fallen logs of the forest floor.  The diversity of beauty in the rainforest made the almost vertical ascent, the leeches (ewww!), the I’m-so-tired-I-could-die feeling at the end,  all worth it.

Valiant..

This hardy plant survived through the worst of the drought.  The striking flower, the first of spring, is one of the few things in the garden that has come through a recent, punishing hail storm unscathed.
