Orchids
We discovered these gems of the flower world on our walk this morning…..

Water Lily

It was late afternoon, with the light fading.
When my extended family get together for an outdoor gathering, we play games after the meal. Not the typical frisbee or cricket: we play boggle. (Yes, the word game.) We are furiously, hilariously, competitive about it so it was tough choice to sit out a couple of rounds to shoot the glorious water lilies.
Water Lily

A Rose by Any Other Name..

It was freezing, just starting to rain, and getting dark. This generous bloom was growing in the garden of an RSL club we were walking past, but the few extra moments in the weather to capture it were forgotten by the time we arrived home.
Pink Ice Protea

It made me late for the party, but I couldn’t walk past this beauty without trying to capture an image of the promise of something grand. They are not native to Australia but grow well here, and are used in many boquets and arrangements combined with our native flora.
The Cat’s Whiskers

Of course, they are not really called that: there is probably a perfectly sensible botanical name. But they should be called “the cat’s whiskers” because it is so apt.
Bird of Paradise

Prickly in Pink

So pretty. So ouchy!

Jewels of Brom

It’s the last brom picture (honest!)
