A few of my favourite things..

Shells of the Rainforest

orange-fungi

Taken in Dorrigo National park, this is one of the many varieties of fungi that decorate the fallen logs of the forest floor.  The diversity of beauty in the rainforest made the almost vertical ascent, the leeches (ewww!), the I’m-so-tired-I-could-die feeling at the end,  all worth it.

  1. They are like shells! I know what you mean about the task of a long exhausting walk. If there wasn’t a well-worn path that indicates that something worthwhile is at the end, I think I would have given up on many a bush hike.

  3. Thankfully, there was not only a plethora of bird and plant life that was novel, but also a waterfall you can walk behind.

The great tragedy of this outing was coming home and finding that the photo of the most beautiful fungi I have ever seen, an amazing rainbow coloured one, was just out of focus. It was enough to make a travel weary girl weep.
