A few of my favourite things..

Vertical Fear

marengo-falls

The drop was terrifyingly, excruciatingly, mercilessly vertical.  Taken on private property, there was no fence, no guide rail, not so much as a “do not cross” line drawn in the sand.

I took this shot while trying desperately not to think of…anything!

I love it. This was my childhood, full of adventure and waterfalls and precipitous drops; perils around every corner. Thanks for the reminder…and your courage!

  2. Burstmode, I had a like childhood of exploration and adventure, with all the accompanying trips to the hospital (sometimes the adventures were down right harebrained 😕 ). But now that I am a parent I am torn between the desire to allow my children the kind of freedom to roam and explore, and my desire to keep them safe.

    Thanks for your comment.

  5. Caitra, if you had seen me clinging like a limpet to my husband… Truly I am jelly around heights!

We do have many, many beautiful waterfalls: mind, we don’t have snow, at least not in the part of Australia I live in.

    Vimal, thanks for your comment.

  6. This was on private property? Lucky ducks, having their own private waterfall as beautiful and wild as this one…

I can almost hear it… the sound of the water crashing to the pool below…

  7. It was about 10 mins in a 4WD from their house, which is mind boggling in itself. If I drive for ten minutes I’m in another suburb: they can drive for ten minutes and still be “at home”.
