A Feast of Itchy Grubs

This tawny frog mouth had found the perfect restaurant!  Climbing up the tree was a long train of furry itchy grubs.  As we watched, he would lean over and pluck them at his leisure.

  1. Great shot! I had never even heard of a tawny frog before today. I love when I get to see and learn about new things. Thank you. 🙂

  2. Thanks for your comment, Amber. Tawny Frogmouths are common nocturnal birds here, and native, though if you are not given to driving around shining torches into trees, you could go a long time without seeing one. Their camouflage is excellent!

I’d never heard of a tawny frog either and would have assumed it was a frog not a bird! Interesting and nice piece of information to know! Nice picture too!

  4. Hey! Cole, I’m so glad you visited. Just last night I was trying to remember what your blog name was to come see what you were up to, and to visit the site of one of your foreign blogging friends who also has a name I couldn’t recall. Sadly, I very unglamorously remembered you as “the fish eye man”, which did nothing to help me find you 😀

    Thanks for coming by.

Edited to add: Cole, on your dashboard, if you go to “users” (represented by two unfashionably chubby icons) and select “profile”, scroll down to “contact info” and fill in the “website” box, your name will automatically be a link each time you leave a comment.

  6. Thanks for the links and for the encouragement. You’ve got some pretty tough critics on your blog, though it must be great to have people about who will give it to you straight and help you improve.

Yeah no kidding eh! But I’m tough, I can handle it 😉 Constructive criticism is a catalyst if you really are aiming at improvement!

  8. You’re so right. If you wander back here any time in the future, please feel free to be frank. I may wince a little, but I’ll thank you for it 🙂
