Only Words…

It’s been said a picture’s worth a thousand words.  But I wonder what tales this old machine could tell me of times ago.

Any idea how old this typewriter is? It looks very well used.

  2. it would tell you of a world dominated by black and white…in ways both concrete and metaphorical. Society is full of color, today…

  3. Oh, I love these old typewrites. I almost bought one in an antique store last summer. I can just imagine the wonderful stories it could tell us.

    Excellent picture!

  4. Michaela, this style was first made in 1889, though I am not sure how old this specific machine is. It does look like it has had a hard life.

Burstmode, true. I don’t know why, but when I think of the black/white issue I associate it with America rather than Australia, though we’ve had our own issues.

Amber, though I (mostly) resist the urge to purchase historical items of interest, I sate my history lovin’ soul at any little country museum we drive past. The girls really enjoy seeing everyday items mentioned in the books they’ve read.
