A few of my favourite things..

Willy Wag Tail

If you know these little characters, you will appreciate how much noise and fuss was happening while I took photos.  Although I had no evil intentions toward Mr & Mrs Wagtail’s dear offspring, you would imagine the worst from the ruckus they produced.

The farmer we were visiting,  recovered a wagtail nest which had been blown down during a storm.  The outside is made from grasses and spider web (yes!) and the interior (in this case) was wool, and hair from the cows.

What an interesting little nest, and a great shot of the family Mrs BB. I could well imagine the ruckus you caused! I love Willy Wag Tails. A similar, although maybe a bit smaller, bird in NZ is called the Fantail.

  5. Hello friends,

Sorry to have left your comments so long – I’m being a distracted blogger 🙂

Amanda, yes, squishy indeed! It was great timing for us. The next week I was at the farm again, and the fledglings had flown the nest.
