Fee, keep this one in mind for Bella when she’s a big girl…
Some very dear friends of ours hosted a birthday party for their eldest daughter (you may recall Meggie, who comments sometimes on my blog?) who is a special friend of my Chicklette, and beloved by all in the BB household.
A regency ball (which she is still threatening her parents with), is very difficult to manage if you don’t have someone who already knows the dances well enough to call them and teach them to the guests. But a Regency Garden Party has all the essential elements without the dancing, and allows even little people (like Blossy!) to attend, and it is not a late night.
So.. we donned our foofy-est dresses, gloves, fans, etc, had hair curled in rags, or upstyles, and such girly stuff, and then wandered about the lawn in all our glory, playing croquet, eating the daintiest of cakes (in the shape of tea cups, no less!) and cucumber sandwiches, and scones (if they didn’t eat scones in the regency days, they missed out.)
My only regret is that while I was surrounded by photo opportunities of the rarest beauty, I was also surrounded by people I love, so had to resist a lot of running around with my camera. The family are our dearest friends, but live a couple of hours away, so we don’t see them often enough to waste too much time behind the camera.

Oh it sounds absolutely divine. Miss B would be in her element I’m sure – although at 7 she finds it hard not to cartwheel at every opportunity – I’m sure by the time she is a “young lady” she will be over that particular phase (well, one can hope anyway). I’m looking forward to the “rags” post!!! Fee x

Thanks, Samantha. They kind of had to be cute, with those subjects. (Not that I’m biased or anything… cough! )
